Kefta - Egyptian  Ground Lamb Kabobs


 

Kefta - Egyptian  Ground Lamb Kabobs

3 pounds of lean ground beef
1 tablespoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons of cumin
6 cloves garlic, mashed
3 tablespoons of crushed, dried mint
Oil for frying Garnish: fresh mint leaves

Instructions:

Combine all of the ingredients except the oil and fresh mint leaves and knead thoroughly with your hands. Form the mixture into small cylindrical kabobs, about 3 inches by 1 inch. Pour enough oil to cover the bottom of a large frying pan. Over moderate heat, fry the kefta, turning frequently, until they are nicely browned on the outside, but still slightly pink on the inside. Serve the kabobs garnished with chopped fresh mint. Serves 6 - 8
