Hawaiian Wedding Pie

One 9 inch baked pie shell
1/2 cup of sugar
1/3 cup of cornstarch
1 1/2 cups of milk
3 beaten egg yolks
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla
1 small can of crushed pineapple, well drained
1/2 - 3/4 cup of coconut
Whipped cream for topping
Toasted coconut for garnish 

Combine the sugar, cornstarch, and milk, mix well. Add the beaten egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to boil and is thickened. Remove from heat. Add butter, vanilla, crushed pineapple, coconut, thoroughly combining all. Pour the mixture into pie shell and chill. When chilled, cover top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with roasted coconut.
