Pennsylvania Dutch Sandwiches

8 ounces of  Swiss Cheese, julienne
8 ounces of Boiled ham, julienne
1 cup of Mayonnaise
8 ounce can of sauerkraut, well drained
Scant teaspoon caraway seed, optional
12 slices of  Dark rye bread

"This unusual combination for a sandwich makes a hit every time they are served. They taste best if prepared one day ahead. " In a medium bowl, combine everything but the bread and butter. Chill overnight. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Top with cheese-ham mixture and another buttered slice of bread. Note: Party rye slices can be used instead of conventional rye bread. Serves 6
