Molasses Taffy

Molasses Taffy

2 cups of sorghum molasses
2 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions:

In a saucepan, boil the molasses, until it hardens and leaves the sides of the pan. Remove from the heat, add the butter and vanilla extract and stir just enough to mix. Pour into a well greased platter. Let is stand until the candy begins to stiffen at the edges. To pull the taffy, butter your hands lightly. Take a fist sized portion of taffy, pull it out and fold it back repeatedly until the candy changes to a golden color, about 5 to 10 minutes. When the taffy begins to harden, break it into sticks, tie it into knots or twist it into rings.
